Trails of doom get slowly carved As we walk the path together Eternal wandering into the underground There's no sacred ground for the conquered The great art in exile, cast away Bones give life to the uncanny An anonymous graveyard upon which we thrive There's no burial ground for the living dead There is no peace for the tormented No respite before impiety Blindfolded, forked tongue Ghosts of today in the desert of tomorrow Before we forget our name and die alone We roam the earth and carry our bones Walking the path, carving the trail Hooded pilgrims without a sacred ground Before we part and follow the path Before these necks are broken We raise our fist and bang our skulls The dead walk with us tonight The hand of doom, the eye of death The solitude of the candlemass Eternal, our mission Hooded pilgrims without a sacred ground

The Eye of Lao-Tsee If you get too close I'll send you a coin I'll spell your doom Our ways, our own You will burn I know you did I know you will Once you find the Way The Way will find you You know we will You know we did

Into the darkness we have drowned Into the sadness we call home Hate and sorrow shape the horizon We are the weepers of the land In the silent night, you disappeared In the cold distance, painful memories With empty hands, and blood in my tears The choking guilt I have to bear Into the darkness we have drowned Into the sadness we call home In the absence of your light This hollow form I wear Bereft of the hope a child brings Into the empty night I stare Hopeless in this land we call our own Knees in dirt for my failure I atone I could not hear your cries, or wipe your tears away I could not comfort you I could not steal your pain Into the darkness we have drowned Into the sadness we call home Hate and sorrow shape the horizon We are the weepers of the land We are the weepers of the land We are the weepers of the land We are the weepers of the land We are the weepers of the land

_______________

Coming off the heels of their latest full-length album “Le passage des glaciers”, this fall the Canadian Death-Doom act Norilsk returns with a collection of new material linked in concept with its previous full-length while also showcasing Norilsk’s more collaborative and multi-faceted nature. It retains the band's signature sound developed on its two full-length albums, and brings forward further openness to an array of doom-related influences.

The new mini-album, entitled “Weepers of the Land” is made up of four new compositions and include collaborations with other Canadian musicians including Damian Smith (Altars of Grief), Joshua Cayer (Longhouse), Ben Forte (North East Bistro, TGRE), and long-time collaborator Mort Marion (Outrage AD, Blood Moon Knights).

“Weepers of the Land” should be viewed as a companion album to “Le passage des glaciers” as the songs were written and recorded during the same time period.
